HIST8 - May 30, 2019

ESSENTIAL QUESTION/BIG IDEA: What is the message of the Gettysburg Address, what were the circumstances surrounding the Address, what inspired the Address, and why is it considered the greatest speech in American history?

HOMEWORK: Now that you have examined Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, create your own Address for a sacred, or “hallowed,” space on the Rio Norte campus--a space you wish to remember here at this school after you leave. Your address should capture Lincoln’s in style, length, and structure, but of course the content and tone will be determined by the place you choose. Take a photo of your location to have on display in the background as you deliver your Address to the class (background photo is optional). As an alternative to a live presentation, you could also have someone shoot video of you delivering your Address at the place you have chosen. Include captions if you think it would make the video of your Address easier to understand.
