Here's what you can do during independent work time today:
  • Check your Hart District Gmail account
  • Check your grades on Infinite Campus
  • Preview today's lesson and agenda
  • Visit Google Maps at http://maps.google.com. Do a search for the word Arabia. Locate the Arabian Peninsula on the map of the world. Observe what bodies of water are around it. What modern countries are located in and around the Arabian Peninsula?

HW:  USING CONTEXT CLUES PRACTICE
Pre-read Chapter 3, Section 2 in your textbook. Use CONTEXT CLUES to define the following terms in your Composition Book:
  • Qur'an
  • revelation
  • Hadith
  • core beliefs
  • fasting
  • almsgiving
  • hajj
By the end of this week, students will:
  • Be able to argue, using evidence, what was Rome's greatest legacy (lasting contribution)
  • Be able to explain the difference between a fact, a belief, and an opinion
  • Know how to write an informal letter
  • Be able to define the vocabulary for the origins of Islam
  • Know what context clues are and how to use them to define words in a reading passage
