The Impact of Title IX

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Since it's passage in 1972, Title IX has had a huge impact on high school and college athletics. It's controversial, though. Some say it has done enormous good for both women's and men's athletics, while others say it has gone too far to try to create a level playing field.
