The miens did not predict the end of the world. They only made there calender to 2012 because they had to stop somewhere

  2. I don't think the world is gonna end (or at least i hope it won't) but i doubt it will

  3. I heard that the only reason people predict that the world is gonna to end in 2012 is because the Mayas didn't/ couldn't finish the calendar after Dec.21,2012 (no scientific theory goes into this superstition).

  4. This is a period of time (like we have centuries and stuff) that lasts for about 5,000 years. 2012 is just that period of time ending, and beginning again on December 22, 2012.

  5. I dont think Mayas are right because they dont have scientific facts and Dec.21,2012 will be an ordinary day like always. Also the calender does not prove a thing just because it ends on that specific date doesn't mean the world ends. Just asking anyone why did it end on on 2012 did they just think it will end then?

  6. yes the Mayas predicted it would be the end of the world but no its not a proven fact. i do not believe the world is going to end there is no way of knowing that.

  7. i think that the Mayans had to stop somewhere or they couldn't finish off their calendar so the end of their calendar doesn't mean the end of the world!! i think people just misinterpret it. there is no convincing evidence or proof of the world ending in 2012 so i don't believe it!

The Mayas didn't know what they were talking about. The world is NOT going to end on December 21 2012! Everyone just thinks that because they stoped the the calendar in 2012. I don't believe what the Mayas said and neither should you!:)

  9. The long count measured the continual passage of time. I think it connects to the movie 2012, because 2012 is a passage over time. I highly doubt the Mayas predicted the end of the world. They had to end the calendar someday, and I guess they just decided to end it on December 21,2012.

I think that the plot of the movie 2012, connects to the Mayas theory\belief that the world is going to end on December 21, 2012(the long count)because the movie is about the long count.I don't believe that the world is going to end on 12/21/12 because the Mayans probably got too lazy to finish their calendar so they just decided to end the calendar, not the world, on that date.:)

I do not think the world will end on 2012 because they could not predict that. I think they ran out of space or died before finishing thier work.

  12. I don't think the world will end in 2012. The Mayan calendar had to end at one point. Where are the facts to prove it?

  15. I'm indecisive about this. On one hand, many people have predicted the end of the world and we are all still alive. But the Mayans also had very accurate astronomers. Gibson Stone Per. 6

Alot of people have predicted the end of the world, but we are still here, hopefully. The maya's invented , mathamatics, astronmy, and they had their own writing system, so yes they are right about " The End Of The Worl" I beleive any way. Christina Karooiannis Period 6

  17. I think that so many people have predicted the end of the world but we are still here, hopefully, i beleive the maya's , have made mathamatics, astronmy , writing systems, so they must have predicted this correctly, i believe anyway. period 6 Christina karooiannis.

I do not think the Mayans predicted the end of the world. Many times scientist have "predicted" the end of the world but their studies were inaccruate(like the year 2000 was also suppose to be the end of the world). The Mayan calender may have stopped at 2012 because the rest of the calendar didn't survive the warfare. Even if they were great at things like astronmy and math they were humans first, and everyone makes mistakes.

I don't think the Mayans predicted the end of the world would come in 2012 because their calender had to have ended at 1 point it can't just go on forever :)

  20. I honestly think that it isn't the end of the world the maya predicted but really a time of change or turning point. Or they just ran out of room >.<

  22. Even though people say that the world is going to end in 2012 because the Maya's calendar ended there, I don't think this is true. The Maya calendar had to stop eventually. Also there are no scientific facts about the world ending!

  23. The Mayas did not predict the end of the word because their calendar ended at December 21, 2012. Also, they predicted in 2012 that the world will not blow up, rather that it will change our world age, both good and in bad ways.

  24. There was a comic in the newspaper recently that had two Mayans, one holding the calendar and saying, "I didn't have any more room, so I stopped at 2012." The other says "That'll freak someone out someday."
This comic is probably not what happened, but do you know how many times people have predicted doomsday in the past? Dec. 21, 2012 is probably just going to be another day where everyone waits for the world to explode but it never does.
If the world DOES explode on 2012...well...I guess live it up until then!!
