Introducing 5-4-3-2-1 - August 20-23, 2010

Agenda:
1.  Attendance/Check HW
2.  Finish BrainPop on "Fall of Rome" and the Fall of Rome PPT
3.  Introduce the 5-4-3-2-1 Method for taking notes on textbook reading
4.  Read 1:2 and take notes using the 5-4-3-2-1 Method
HW:  Read 1:3 and take notes using the 5-4-3-2-1 Method

Today in class we finished our discussion on the Fall of the Roman Empire that we began in our last class.  We then looked into our history textbook, Medieval and Early Modern Times, and read Chapter 1, Section 2.  Mr. Ippolito then introduced his 5-4-3-2-1 method for taking notes on the reading.  While it may seem a bit confusing at first, my hope is that this method will give students a good framework for critical thinking and reading in the textbook.

If you need a blank copy of the notes sheet, you can go to the Digital File Cabinet, or you can get it HERE.
If you need to see a sample of what the notes for Chapter 1, Section 2 look like, you can check that out HERE.
