All grades complete

All grades, all periods are now complete.  I will be away all day tomorrow (Thursday, May 26) as I am in charge of the eighth grade Disneyland trip.  If you have any last-minute business to settle, I will be in my classroom on Friday, May 27, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.  Otherwise, your grade will stand as it is in Infinite Campus right now.

Grades to be completed tonight

Had a great day celebrating my little sister's college graduation today. I'm finishing grades tonight so you know exactly how the final exam and exploration game affect your overall score.

Mastery Activity

Seventh Grade History Vocabulary - Flash Cards Assignment.pdf Download this file
I offered a mastery activity to those not going to Scooter's Jungle who stayed at Rio Norte.  For those who went to Scooter's Jungle who wish to complete the activity, it must be turned into me PERSONALLY.  I will accept it tomorrow (Tuesday, 5/24) before school, during homeroom, or at brunch.  With my sister's college graduation Wednesday, and the Disneyland trip on Thursday, I will not be available to accept this assignment after tomorrow.

I've had a couple students say they're having trouble with the Google Docs format.  Here are the slides in PDF format:

Great visit from Corporal JR Martinez today

Thanks to the yearbook and Thunder students who were such a great audience today for our visit from CPL JR Martinez, US Army Retired.  I'm in the process of uploading the video from today's presentation, but in the meantime you can check out this 2009 CNN interview with JR here:

The Enlightenment and Scientific Revolution - PRESENTATION PROJECT

The Enlightenment and Scientific Revolution
The Assignment

In Google Docs, create a Presentation (just like PowerPoint) to present to your history class about the topic you choose.  YOU are responsible for teaching the class about your assigned topic.  Follow these guidlines:
  • Your presentation must successfully answer the question, "How does your person or topic CONNECT to the Age of Enlightenment or The Scientific Revolution?"
  • Your presentation should contain a minimum of FOUR and maximum of SIX slides (1 title slide and 3-5 content slides)
  • The first slide (the title slide) should contain the title of your presentation, the first and last names of the people who worked on the presentation, and your class period
  • There must be at least one image on each content slide
  • There may be no more than 140 characters on each slide
  • Create your presentation using Google Docs.  If you need help with Google Docs, Mr. Ippolito and Mr. Jacobs will be available to help at lunch on Friday, May 6, and Monday, May 9, at lunch in Room D-6.
  • Share your presentation with Mr. Ippolito at rippolito@gmail.com
  • Name your presentation using the correct format:  period code (PER2, PER4, PER5, or PER6), assignment code (TESR stands for The Enlightenment and Scientific Revolution), first and last names of partners working on the presentation (ask how to spell your partner's name correctly).  For example:
    • PER2 TESR Michael Smith and Kendal Jones
    • PER4 TESR Suzie Martinez and John Stevens
  • This is due on the next block day.  Be prepared to deliver your presentation to the class.
